After the lecture with Ronan on rug making, I wanted to give the Latch Hooking Technique a go myself. luckily I had a kit at home I’ve been keeping for a few years with the suitable materials inside to create this piece.
I got onto the technique very quickly and the repetitive nature of it. I found it very addicting to complete and would like to try it with my own designs and explore different lengths of wool to add different elements to the design.
I have included a time-lapse video of me finishing off the piece, I find making these videos motivates me to keep working on the task and encourages me to not get distracted by other things.
This is the final piece, the design is a hedgehog that I think is very cute. I will add a hanging stick at the top and I will turn this into a wall hanging in my room as I really like the effect it brings and the interesting texture to it.
Because I enjoyed this task so much I also recently purchased a punch needle which I would like to try as well, I have become intrigued into the texture of wool recently and would like to explore more techniques using it.
