For this task, we were asked to create a logo design for our own company, whilst considering what we wanted to communicate through our design. I decided to create a logo for a lipstick company, and wanted to name the company “Silk” to represent high quality, silky lipstick products.
When designing the product, I wanted to keep the colour palette relatively simple yet effective, and so decided to use pink and black. the pink colour has several purposes, first it represents a typical lipstick product, but it also serves to convey an element of fun and playfulness. The black stands out as professional and bold. For the font, I wanted to include my love for calligraphy whilst enhancing the feeling of richness and high quality. The ‘s’ is whimsical yet playful, and the name of the brand is clear to see. I also wanted to make the logo concise yet interesting, and so that’s why I had the brand name cut through the lipstick image. I wanted to communicate the essence of the products, they are silky smooth lipsticks that are fun yet high quality.
