During the morning class Alec gave us an exercise where we had to animate the boxing characters from last week by changing the timing and adding in-betweens and also gave us the opportunity to learn how to switch between animating in IK and FK as for some of the arm movements it was better to have them in IK.
During the afternoon class, we were meant to have Sorcha come in again to teach us more about 2D animation but she was unable to attend due to being sick. Alec instead allowed us to use this class to work on our weight animations, and I continued blocking the poses of mine out. When he came round to me to see what I was doing he enjoyed the idea, but suggested I use a video reference in addition to the still image references as it can help with getting the motion right.
When I was finishing the blocking during the week, I found I was unable to move the IK keys in the dope sheet and couldn’t figure out what the problem was since everything else was moving except the IK keys. I thought this would be something best explained in person rather than through email so I’ll be talking to Alec about it during Monday’s class.
Due to being unable to continue the weight animation until the dope sheet issue was fixed, I made a start on blocking the run animation in the meantime and used the following references to help me:
I am planning on doing a fearful run using the AZRI rig where she constantly moves her head to look behind her while she is running, as well as making her movements look more frantic compared to a standard run. I will also find a video reference to help me with the frantic arm movements as those would be hard to replicate with still images.
