Over the semester I feel like my modelling skills have developed quite well from the initial treasure chest assignment to modelling assets and characters for the group animation and then to this assignment. I’ve gotten very used to Maya during these assignments for modelling, rigging, UV mapping and retopology and over the course of the assignments throughout the semester the models turn out better than the previous ones in my opinion because I’ve a better understanding of the tools in Maya. Although this assignment was primarily focusing on Blender to make the actual model by sculpting which was something I struggled a lot with, I don’t think the model turned out too bad since if there were any problems with the sculpt I couldn’t fix such as struggling to make the ears more pointed, I could fix that during retopology in Maya which was a major contributing factor to making the cute cat model look relatively decent. I do know I need to work on increasing my experience with Blender over the summer for next year if we are required to do any sculpting so hopefully by then I’ll be better prepared for any sculpting assignments.
