Branding Workshop

In this workshop, we were tasked with rebranding a food company. The company, ‘Zest’ is a cafe that provided food in canteens, colleges, and workplaces.

I began this task by creating a Pinterest board along with a mindmap to inspire me and develop different ideas. I decided the company needed to become more modern whilst still having an element of fun and energy.

After creating ideas I sourced potential fonts on Adobe illustrator and created different potential colour palettes that could be incorporated into the final rebrand. I tried to keep the typefaces more modern, subtle, and more legible rather than some of the more illustrative or bold typefaces. My chosen typeface was Microsoft Yi Baiti, It has a modern element to it whilst still being subtle.

I then created a logo. On Procreate, I was able to design a series of logos. I chose two of my favorites and drew them in illustrator. Using my logos and type I created different layouts to see which logo and overall composition I prefer. The logo I chose was an orange slice, tying to the name of the company ‘Zest’.

After designing the logo I experimented with colour and different palettes before finally deciding on an orange and purple colour palette. I think this fits the company well as the orange alludes to the food and also the company name, whilst the purple adds an element of fun and energy into the company design whilst also complementing the orange.

This is my final spreadsheet highlighting the rebrand of the company.
