The Canadian artist pays around with the idea of light in a lot of her sculptures. Her most well-known commission is one at the McGill University Health Centre. Standing at 13m tall the aluminium sculpture can be seen from roads and motorways alike. ‘Havre’ is a symbolic of an embrace. The painted aluminium pipes weave rhythmically together, intertwining and creating almost nest type structure. The tightly interlaced rods create 3 doorways within the sculpture as to invite viewers to come inside and observe the art from a different angle. In daylight the sun cascades down and emerges between each pole creating a pattern of shadows across the floor. By night the sculpture is lit up by a series of Led lights that shine blue and green as to mimic the loss of the brilliant blue sky.
