AAD09 Alternative Means

For this task, I went outside my house and collected a variety of loose objects within my garden such as leaves and twigs. I then used a glue gun to stick the objects together and form a mark making tool. I dipped each mark making tool into brown acrylic paint and pressed each one down onto the page to see what marks they made as shown below. It was very interesting to see the variety of shapes and patterns that can be made just by using things around your house.

I made this house using lots of lollipop sticks in which I had to cut and glue together using a glue gun. I really enjoyed this but it was difficult to get the house to stand up.

For the second house that I made, I took any pieces of cardboard that I had around the house, cut out the walls of the house and glued them together using a glue gun. I used little matchsticks to create the window and doors as well as to add detail to the roof of the house.

Here are my continuous line drawings of other people’s faces. At first I tried to keep my eyes off the page but I found it incredibly difficult to do while keeping the pen moving. I then found that holding my sketchbook on my head was a lot easier to concentrate and I was actually happy with some of the face drawings I did. I then used strips of wire to create two faces. I haven’t used wire in a long time but I liked the challenge of creating art with my hands.
