Communication

Logos are intended to be the face of a company. They’re meant to visually communicate the unique identity of a brand and what it is trying to represent. Depending on the logo philosophy, simple logos comprised of only essential elements are often the most difficult and also successful. The purpose of a logo is to give a visual representation of a company brand. A logo design should be unique, give high impact, be eye-catchy and leave an unforgettable impression. It should include the name and the products and services that claim to be provided by the business and the logo design should promote the business and build brand identity. It should communicate the message behind the brand and make consumers feel like an important of the identity. It should help to convince consumers to choose this brand/business over others just by looking at a simple picture. I chose to research the Starbucks logo as it is so well known to so many and can be seen as iconic. Starbucks representatives changed the dark brown colour to the friendlier signature green it is today so that the name would also be more easily remembered by customers. The green symbolises freshness, growth and prosperity and the fact that it was acquired by Howard Schultz.

My logo design

I created this logo design digitally which I really enjoyed. The ring surrounding the text is made to look like a coffee cup stain as the logo is to advertise a coffee shop/cafe. I placed the writing in the middle so that the image would not draw away from the cafe name. The name “Worth the Weight” is a play on words I came up with which can be viewed as waiting for your coffee order or to show that the products are good enough that consumers shouldn’t worry about calorie intake. This helps to communicate the message of the business. I think this adds humour to the logo which will make the business more memorable and increase sales. I really enjoyed this task.
