Communication is the process of sending, obtaining, exchanging information between individuals through verbal and nonverbal ways. Communication can be made through, oral communication, speeches, writing, signs, symbols, and behaviour.
Logos are a big form of communication in todays society. Logos are visual symbols used to quickly identify a company, product, brand, or an organization. Logos and other symbols are used to send out a nonverbal message. Good designers can make logos communicate their desired message that they want to portray to the public. A logo is a blend of text and imagery that shows people the name of your small business and creates a visual symbol that represents your vision. Logos can be in letters or abstract designs. It is a huge part of brand identity. A good logo is memorable and distinguishes you from other brands and businesses.
Versace
Versace is an Italian Luxury fashion company and trade, founded in Milan Italy, 1978 by fashion designer Gianni Versace. Versace grew up in Rome, Italy and was heavily influenced by Greek artwork, that was common in the area where he lived. Gianni Versace designed the Versace logo himself for his own fashion line. The inspiration for his logo came from ancient Greek mythology and artwork on the floor of the ruins in Rome where he and his siblings used to play on. He had chosen Medusa from a Greek myth, to centre his logo specifically because of the way she had made people fall in love with her with no chance of ever going back. Versace had hoped that his company would have the same effect on the people that wore and purchased his clothes and accessories. The border around the logo of Medusas head is surrounded by a ring of Greek Keys. It was often a border deeply engraved in Greek culture used in Greek temples and pottery. This is less symbolic but represents the labyrinth from the story of Theseus and the Minotaur in Greek mythology. Versace loved this design and thought it symbolised power, strength, and beauty in his company. Today Versace is one of the world’s most famous and recognisable brand / logo.
