Research work – Quentin Blake, Number 3

Quentin Blake was born in London, 1932 and has been drawing for as long as he can remember, He contemplated English at Bringing down School, Cambridge, proceeding to do a postgraduate showing recognition at the College of London. Followed by life-classes at Chelsea Craftsmanship School.

He has consistently made his living as an artist, just as instructing for more than twenty years at the Imperial School of Workmanship, where he was top of the Representation office from 1978 to 1986. His first drawings were distributed in Punch while he was 16 and still at school. He kept on drawing for Punch, The Onlooker and different magazines over numerous years, while simultaneously entering the universe of youngsters’ books with A Beverage of Water by John Yeoman in 1960

He is known for his coordinated effort with essayists, for example, Russell Hoban, Joan Aiken, Michael Rosen, John Yeoman and most notably Roald Dahl. He has additionally drawn for books, including A Christmas Tune and Candide and made much-cherished characters of his own, including Mr Magnolia and Mrs Armitage.

  • Since the 1990s Quentin Blake has had an extra vocation as presentation keeper, curating shows in, among different spots, the Public Exhibition, the English Library and the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris. Over the most recent couple of years he has started to make bigger scope work for clinics and medical care settings in the UK and France where his work can be found in wards and public spaces.
