All sketches completed in charcoal
(Beside each picture will be a brief description)
Two rabbits in a glass cabinet.
A3 size.
Time taken to complete this was 20-25 minutes.
Glass bottles surrounded by shelves of antiques.
A3 size.
This sketch was to experiment with very harsh dark lines contrasting with highlights in translucent objects.
I only focused on the main three bottles since I thought they made the most light and darkness, hence the smudged shapes in the background for the other antiques.
Time taken to complete this was 20 minutes.
Close up of ammonites attached to a rock.
A2 size.
Time taken to complete this was 1 hour and 30 minutes.
View of an exhibit leading through to another exhibit in another room.
A2 size.
I used my rubber a lot in this sketch for highlights.
The left side of the sketch does not look as good quality compared to the right side due to the fact while working in the museum the page got too smudged and I was not able to save the quality of it.
Time taken to complete this was 1 hour and 30 mins.
Close up of the side of the dinosaurs skull.
A2 size.
Time taken to complete this was a 40 minutes.
The reason this A2 was soo quick was because I wanted to experiment with quick vigorous mark making.
View of a dinosaur skull exhibit.
A2 size
For extra detail I used a q-tip to blend out the harsh black tones which were right beside the bright highlights.
Time taken was 2 hours.
