GOING TO THE CINEMA CONCEPT
While there is the argument that cinemas aren’t as popular due to the vast amount of home streaming services, the simplicity of turning up at the cinema and deciding what to watch is an area streaming services could incorporate into their products. A downfall of streaming services, due to the shear amount of content , is that users are left scrolling trying to find something to watch.
Data experts have calculated that users will only browse for 60-90 seconds before they get fed up and quit. a typical user will review 10 to 20 titles, up to 3 in detail, and some times be doing this over multiple screens. if nothing catches their eye at this point, they give up. Users spend on average 18 minutes trying to find something to watch.
Whereas, at the cinema, which a streaming service is a smaller, portable version, you are limited in your choice. This reduces the amount of time where you are trying to work out what you want to watch. This is my aim with the dice function as the user will presented with 6 options, similar to the posters at the cinema, speeding up the choosing process, while also recommending content they will be interested in.
13 PRINCIPLES OF A GOOD UI
While designing my app improvement, I wanted to do more research into what makes a good user interface as I feel that Prime Video’s UX is the least successful out of the main streaming services. By doing this I hoped to gain knowledge that would help me highlight areas that needed improving and come up with ideas that would merge well with the existing product.
