While coming up with my ideas, I had to carry out some research to make myself more confident in the area which in turn helped me generate different ideas. As the board game aspect was one of my main ideas, I explored the different mechanics that are involved in creating board games. This gave me the basis of my idea of the dice for a shuffle option.
After narrowing down my main ideas to the final few, I explored further into other streaming services and how they look, in particular shuffle options that already exist and how they present the watchlist.

After carrying out this area of my research, I saw that there was a gap which could be filled in that only Netflix currently provide a shuffle option with Prime Video rumoured to have one in development. So I decided on my final idea to develop further as being a shuffle option. In keeping with the board game idea, I chose a dice to be the ‘random’ element of the selection, but also include a series of categories or questions to allow the user to have the final choice, which is lost in Netflix’s shuffle option.
While I feel the original 6 sided dice would be the best option, I did explore what other non-traditional shapes. The issue with this was, would the user recognise it as a dice? Also, I researched a few websites which provide a quiz which people can complete if they are unsure what to watch, as a starting point for what questions I could include.
