AAD011: Collaboration

‘Apple’ Logo over the decades

Collaboration is defined as the action of working with someone to produce something and perhaps the most successful example of people collaborating together is the creation of the multi national corporation Apple. In terms of Interaction Design, Apple are one of the companies at the fore front of new developments. Founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak collaborated together on the Apple Computer in 1976. While both in their twenties, the two men started to generate millions and then knew their collaboration had led to something that would change the digital world. As the company grew in popularity and wealth, the two man team faced some challenges as Jobs personality began to change, as speculated by numerous work colleagues including Wozniak, and became more of a businessman. This could be a contributing factor to the regular success of Apple, but it also highlights how fragile a successful collaboration can be. Collaboration has been key to many successful digital companies as the coming together of ideas allows it to expand. However, collaborating in a business setting is risky and can lead to issues, which is shown with the founders of Apple.
