Museum: A3 Drawing (Day One)

This was the workshop I found the most challenging as charcoal has always been a media that I have struggled with. After walking through the museum, the woven dragons on the top floor stood out to me the most as I thought they could look quite effective in charcoal. Once I had drawn the dragon I started adding in some of the detail of the background to try and show the size and scale of the sculpture. With this being my first piece in charcoal for this workshop, I learnt a lot from it like blending, different mark making and using an eraser to creating a contrast with the heavy charcoal areas.
