Found Alphabet: Monochrome/Grayscale Illustrations

To create my first illustration, I drew the basic outline with pen which resulted in a simplistic but effect graphic image. I decided to block in the objects as I felt that this composition of objects would still be recognisable in just one blanket colour. I chose to upload the before and after images as I feel they can both stand on their own as separate illustrations. One area I would improve would be to manage my spacing better so that there was a large gap between the two words.

I followed the same process for my second illustration when it came to drawing the outline of the objects. However, instead of creating a monochrome piece, I felt as it was a longer phrase, I would make it a grayscale piece. I used pro markers to add to the areas where there would be tone and shadows. I struggled with the spacing in ‘flower’ as some of the objects were quite wide, so I had to reduce them in size compared to the other words. Again, I am pleased with how I created a loose, quick illustration which is still effective.
