IxD 101: Project 00 Manifesto (2)

After completing my brainstorming and research, I narrowed my possible manifesto down to three possibilities. I sketched up a couple of ideas for each of these. I took a lot of inspiration from Bauhaus so when sketching out my ideas I decided to stick to only using rectangles and lines to see if I could create imagery that linked to my manifesto.

Before I chose my final design, I wanted to see how some of the designs would look once I digitised them. So, using Figma I created greyscale versions of my top three designs without the text to see how they would look. I found the more complicated designs didn’t look as effective as I had hoped, like the line out, once I drew them up on my laptop. Therefore, I am leaning towards the sound waves as I feel it is a more cohesive design.

My final choice was ‘keep going to the final whistle’ as I felt this covered a few of the reasons I would need to read the manifesto for. I sometimes struggle to get to the finish line with my work as I feel burnt out and doubt if my work is up to a good enough standard, so I feel this phrase will remind me to push through until the ‘final whistle’ which is the final submission and produce work I’m proud of. The rectangles in the background represent the three whistles a referee would blow at the end of a match with the first two being quieter and shorter than the last. While the colour scheme is the same as the De Stijl movement, it also happens to be the same colours of my home rugby club so I felt it was suitable to keep them as my colour scheme.
