Mood Board
This is my chosen mood board for this project. Its consists of purple and pinks as I love the brightness of these colours. They also tend to create very soft fragile gradients as if it very delicate. I feel pink against a white background can be beautiful making the colour pop. Pinks and purples are also a very ‘feminine’ colour as we associate pink with the female gender so I love using this colour as it has a sense of power behind it.
Stella McCartney – Fashion Designer
For my fashion designer, I chosen the well known designer Stella McCartney. She is well known for using her bright and bold colours highlighting her outgoing persona. She was born into a family of creators well known to the public eye. Her life style as a vegetarian effects her fashion as from day one she has never used things such a leather or fur for her outfits. Most recently she has used her name and her fashion brand to start a campaign for Breast cancer awareness. I love her brand as she creates chic looking dresses by using unconventional materials instead of the basic leather or fur.
Caren Garfen – Textile Artist
For my textile artist I chose Caren Garfen. The work you see above is called ‘ Down the line’. It is a piece of work based around a Jewish man called Richard who had been through the tragic events of the Holocaust. It looks at Richards own family line and how it was effected by such events. I find this work to be really effective as it tells a story but using the textures and objects in such a way as if it was delicate. The framing and presentation of this work in lines is what makes it effective , life being passed on down the lines.
Aimee Kent – Textile Designer
For my textile designer I chose Aimee Kent. I love Aimee’s style as it is very modern and chic looking. the was the lines over wrap each other and symmetrical looking is very memorising. the way she uses few colours to create bold and bright shapes really sticks out to me as a statement piece when designing. I love being bold and bright myself so when I saw this I thought i would love to recreate some quirky pieces myself. Aimee’s designs are mostly inspired by her birth place in Africa highlighting her flag colours and bold choices.
