Portrait Of A Friend

Portrait Of A Friend

While researching portraits I came across several artists that used different methods to highlight certain parts of a person (within their portrait). In some cases this meant only including the eyes in the face or cutting out certain parts of the face. There was even an artist that only used one block color and created the silhouette of the face but didn’t color in the eyes. I felt inspired by each of these pieces.

When i was paired with Eve i knew exactly what i wanted to highlight; her hair and rosy cheeks. I can always spot Eve in a crowd from her bright blonde locks. Therefore within this painting of her i opted to leave out the facial features and layer on right colors that I associate with her such as bright blues and yellows.

This was quite a personal piece and overall I am happy with the outcome. Although it was an odd choice to leave out the facial features I feel it was the right one.
