We were asked to make two houses, one from cardboard/ paper and one from foraged things like sticks/ leaves I started out with my plan for these, I wanted to make the one from cardboard a sketchy, abandoned house, I gained some inspiration from the bates house from “Psycho”. And for the nature house I wanted to create something a fairytale creature would live in.
I started working on the first house and tried to create an obscure house with off proportions, for example it is very thin in width, to give an off putting appearance, then I added details like a porch with stairs and windows on the front, furthermore I began to rip sections and poke holes through to imply it is abandoned or poorly looked after.
For the second house I went out and looked for Small sticks, bark and interestingly coloured leaves, I found some from a strawberry plant that was going out of season, they were vibrant and perfect for what I had planned, I then went out in search of anything I could use for decoration around the house, I came across some empty snail shells and red berries which tied the fairy tale house together.
I am very happy with the outcome of my task.
