What is Battleship and its objective

As naturally known to many users and individuals who played the original Battleship, the object of Battleship is to try and sink all of the other players before they sink all of  your ships. All of the other players ships are somewhere on his/her board. You try and hit them by calling out the coordinates of one of the squares on the board. The other player also tries to hit your ships by calling out coordinates. Neither you nor the other player can see the other’s board so you must try to guess where they are. Each board in the physical game has two grids: the lower (horizontal) section for the players ships and the upper part (vertical during play) for recording the players guesses.

What does each game consist of

Each player places the five ships somewhere on their board. The ships can only be placed horizontally or vertically. Diagonal placement is not allowed. No part of the ship may hang off the edge of the board. Ships may not overlap each other. No ships may be placed on another ship. Once the guessing begins, the players may not move the ships. The five ships are: Carrier (occupies 5 spaces), Battleship (4), Cruiser (3), Submarine (3), and Destroyer (2).

How my game is played

Players take turns guessing by calling out the coordinates. The opponent responds with “hit” or “miss” as appropriate. Both players should mark their boards with the specific icons. The pink and blue circular icon for “Hit” on the opposing team, representing their boards colour scheme, and vice versa; a yellow and orange “hit” icon to reflect the other opponents board.

Further more, the blue “x” represents a “miss”. For example, if you call out E2 and your opponent does not have any ship located at E2, your opponent would respond with ‘miss’, and you record the miss E2 with a blue “x” on the lower part of your board at E2.

When all of the squares that one of your ships occupies have been hit, the ship will be sunk. you should announce “hit and sunk”. In the physical game, a pink icon would be placed on the top edge of the vertical board to indicate a sunk ship.

I also added another feature, allowing users the opportunity to place red “x” squares on their Battleship grid  as  a ploy,  so  if  the particular unit with the red “x” placed was chosen by your opponent, ultimately their next go is cancelled out and they miss a go.

Secondly, game users also have the option to place a red “*” on their grid as another challenging ploy against their opponent, as if the star is randomly guessed accidently by the opponents during their turn when trying to find a ships coordinates, they must simply reveal 2 coordinates of their Carrier ship or ultimately loose a destroyer ship. This provides an interesting take on the game as it adds more excitement or sense of surprise when a “hit” or ” miss” is exchanged with either of these outcomes, adding more thrill!
