Product- Ceramics

For my ceramic piece I chose this charcoal drawing from my AAD009 module. I really like the angles and vertical lines and feel this could create and interesting effect in my finished piece. I narrowed my image down to show just some of the angles.

I created a rough template for my clay, then started placing the material over the paper. Taking into account the thicker lines of the clay I simplified some of my image to create an outline I was happy with. This was repeated then both panels were left to dry.

Once the clay was leather dry I could stand both panels up and, after scoring the clay, attach both together with slip which I made with some left over clay.

I left it to harden completely and the next day took pictures of my finished product. I found this task really fun, as the clay was enjoyable to work with and I loved seeing the patterns and shadows created by the form of the piece.
