Before I create the thumbnails that will be the depiction of what my group is developing for the final animation, I first did research and studies based on existing stills from various sources from Animation stills to Video Game Concept Art

To understand Perspective, I had to first learn about how One Point Perspective and Two Point Perspective are used to create variations in the composition of concept art and so on.

One Point Perspective is when an image has a singular vanishing point and gives the image a corridor like affect, the best example of a One Point Perspective I’ve found was this scene from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, where you can see the vanishing point (depicted by the Yellow Dot) is followed along by the Horizon and Perspective Lines (Horizone Line – Red, Perspective Line – Blue), it gives the image depth to the scene and gives that wrapped corridor like affect.

Two Point Perspective is as the name implies, there is two points of perspective to the image that gives the more of a wider viewing angle for instance it can be used in establishing shots, giving the viewer a sense of the world as well as giving it a sudo-3D feeling to the scene. For an example, I picked Concept art from Mitchells vs the Machines and Splatoon 2 as both have varying degrees of the Two Point Perspective.

In the Mitchells vs the Machines Concept art, the TPP (Two Point Perspective) is subtle as the family is spread throughout the image, but you can see from the where the Perspective Points are, the horizon line and perspective line follow along the car as seen here in this draw over I created.

Splatoon 2 Concept Art, the TPP is much more pronounced as the sharp edges of the floor indicate where the horizon line meets and where the two points are placed in the artwork, I chose this and the Mitchells vs the Machines Concept Art as a way to study how TPP can be shown within the Composition of the art.

After doing research into the perspectives, it was time to create my composition for my group, which was to create Compositions based on a Desert Theme, so I have created over 6 thumbnails that will help me decided on which of the thumbnails I liked the most and use it to help the group find out how we are setting up are animation.
