For this week, I kept texturing new objects for the Unreal Project. I haven’t started on the animations yet due to wanting to finish the textures for the project. However, once they are finished, I will start work on them immediately.
Texturing continues
So, I kept on texturing the rest of the assets that are needed for this project. For the concrete, I just created the same material for concrete as the roads that I have done. The reason we are creating just a concrete road, is to be able to create more ground for buildings to stand on rather than float in an abyss in the middle of nowhere. That would be breaking the immersion. For the billboards, I gave them a metallic tool to them by increasing the metallic slider on the fill layer. For the middle, I did some arrows on the. The reason for this is that we can use photo editing software like Photoshop and change this texture to any poster that we have made.
Lastly, I created the textures for the teddy bear. Firstly, I made an FBX file of the teddy bear by going onto file and export. With it I can change where it can be saved and what type of file it is. Then, I imported it into Substance Painter and started painting it. For this, I wanted to give it a fur like texture. So, I decided to look at the preset materials I had to use and try and change some aspects of the texture by changing its colour from blue to brown. Lastly, I make a brown fill layer and give it a dirt generator to give it a sense of it being a bit old. Lastly, I add a solid black to the eyes and export the texture.
Overall
I am pretty happy with the progress made on that day as it is getting me closer to creating the SCI FI world in Unreal Engine.
