For this part of the week, I textured the last building for the SCI FI project that my group has been working on.

 Last building

This is a building that one of our new member that came in made and never made anything again. So, I decided to use this model to create a texture for the store. So firstly, I open the scene in Maya and assign different materials to the shop so it would be easier to  paint in Substance Painter. Once that is done, I select the object and go to file and hit export. This pops up a window where I can choose where to save and what type of file to save it as. Once the settings have been set, I then move onto opening Substance Painter.

Once it is in Substance Painter, I began doing similar techniques with this building as I did other objects. These include things like concrete material, metal effects and lighting. Once this structure has been painted, it is time to export the textures. As I was texturing, One of the people in the project brought up that when exporting the textures, to always make sure to select the Unreal Engine template so the textures can work a lot better when putting things together. So, then not only have I started exporting the textures for this model, but also resend all of the new textures that are compatible with Unreal Engine. I also had to remove the lines in the roads as they didn’t line properly.

Overall

Overall, I am pretty happy with the progress and I am feeling like I am ready to start assembling the world. I cannot wait to see what the finished result will be.
