For this part of the blog, I will be talking about the production section of my group’s project called Cute Graveyard.

My Progress:

For my progress of the production part, I first began making a Trello board.

The reason for creating one is to keep every task that we have to do in one simple and organised place which can be asked quickly by any member of the team at any time. The way I set it up was by going the Trello website. This website allowed me to not down the tasks that we had to do. To make the board I simply went onto Create New Board which then prompt up a new window. Then I called it Cute Graveyard and hit create. This brought me to a new page to create a new list. So I click on that, and begin naming the list and then creating the tasks for the list, by the use of the new window that appeared when creating the list. And thats how I created the board.

I also decided to make some concepts for the tombstones that will be placed in the area. For nearly all of them I had to look up at real life references of tombstones to get an idea for the shapeand how would they look. For the second last on the top right I made an exaggeration of the cross to give it a bit of a cartoony vibe. The last one on the top left is an idea that I had to the scary tombonstone that will be swapped with the normal tombstone when we are going to make the jumpscare.

These Tombstone Concepts were created in Clip Studio Paint, which allowed me to draw them using its tools.

Nathan’s Progress:

Nathan went ahead and started working on the assest for the animation. These assest were a tombstone set. He used some of my concept art for the tombstone alongside real life reference to create these assets in Maya.

Alex’s Progress:

Alex worked on editing creating the Animatic video for the storyboard that Nathan made, to get an idea of how the animation will look in motion. Here is the animatic:

She also looked modify the character design alongside looking at the different colours we can use for our friendly little wisp character. This was to get a more refined look for him.

We ended up going with the first design because it was the most recognisable and the most adorable.

Timmy’s Progress:

Timmy got started creating the land on which the animation will take place. This was a cemetery. He began creating concept art for how the land was going to look. Here are some example:

He was going with a somewhat realistic yet cartoon style. Since our character was a cute character we decided to tie in the cartoony asthetic of the props as cartoons can have a cute appeal. However, we had to make sure that it was still a scary settings. So we gave some of the props a bit more edge to them.

These were the references that Timmy gathered and used for the graveyard.

Conclusion

So far I am pretty happy with the progress that we made so far and I am excited to continue working on the project. One thing i don’t like so far is that I didn’t do more concept arts for the animation. Other than that, I am happy with what I have.
