Week 6

For this part of the week we didn’t have any homework but rather we had to make sure that the blogs were up to date and to correct any mistakes that might be present in them.

Design A World

For this one I had the idea of create a creature made out of plants while also using some attributes of a mermaid like its ability to hypnotize people in general. So i got to work on gathering photos and creating a moodboard for the creature. Here is the moodboard:

For the images i type in things like vines, flowers, Posion Ivy, Venus Trap, Mermaid and leafs.

Then I did small thumbnail sketches of the shape of the creature to get an idea if the creature was stationary or could move or slither like a snake. Here are the designs I thought of.

For the creature I have decided to make her look beautiful when the person is under the influence of its hypnoses. So far I got one part of it done.

Week 7

For this part of the week, we were tasked with animating balls of different weight to give us an idea of timing and spacing when animating and trying to understand how weight applies in an animation. For the ball animation I had to also use a bunch of different video references to get an idea of how different types of balls react to the impact to the ground.

Here links to the videos below:

And Here is the bounce animation for the different balls:

Overall I really enjoyed this exercise as it got me to do animation. It also allowed to learn how to use references in drawings. One thing that I didn’t like was that I didn’t do different animation with the balls like having them bounce on the side of the walls or adding any extra effects.
