In this part of the week we had to flesh out a character design for the world we are working on.

Design a World/Character Design Task

Before we were given the homework, I was shuffled into another group for the last time before I will be choosing on which project I will be permanently working on. Anyway, the group that I got paired with group 7. So for the theme of it is Cyberpunk. The first thing i did was to write some ideas for a character that can fit in the Cyberpunk world.

As you can see, I had a lot of ideas for character designs, but in the end I chose a hacker character. The reason for it is that every Cyberpunk story needs to have a hacker in them (in my biased opinion). I immediately began the design process by first writing who the character is and how and why she is a part of the story. Down below you will see the word document log:

After this, I opened Photoshop and I begun making a mood board for the character to get an idea of what she may look like.

As you can see some of the elements from the moodboard have made it on the character design. Next I begun design the head of the character with the details that I wrote to make sure the character is as close to idea I have.

When creating the design, I wanted to feel the helmet feel advanced and give the vibe of cyberpunk. In the final design, I mixed some of the elements that are present here. The same can be said about the cloth design.

When adding colour to the character, I wanted to make sure that gave you the vibes of a mysterious yet, heroic vibe. So, I made sure that the colours were close to a calming colour like blue.

Overall, I liked this task a lot more because it got me to think more about the character I’m making and it gave me more valuable information about the process.
