For this part of the week I had to learn about colour theory by colouring in backgrounds to convey different moods with different colour pallets.
Colour Theory Part 1
For the first part of the exercise was to use a colour scheme on a drawing we made for last week. In short we had to use colours that would compliment each other. For it, I decided to use Monochromatic colour for the drawing. My idea for it was to make a colour pallet was to make it feel the ruins mystical and beautiful by using the colour orange. The pallet that I used are brown, orange, yellow, red and purple.
Colour Theory Part 2
For the second part, I had to create two variations for the same background using different colours pallets which will help convey the mood of the scene. For the first one I wanted to give off the vibe of joy and happiness when looking at it. When drawing this, I had to make sure that the colours felt united. To make sure that happened, I added a solid orange colour and chose overlay and reduced its opacity. Here is the image in question.
For the other variant I wanted to give it an empty and scary atmosphere by adding things like fog to add to the atmosphere. I also I have use cold and unsaturated colours to sell the atmosphere. I have also used a blue overlay to add more to it. Here is the drawing:
Design a World
For this week, we were shuffled by the teachers into other groups. I got switched from group 5 to group 6 to work on their project. For their project is about a post apocalyptic world where humans have mutated appendagesĀ of animals and one day aliens crash on their planet. Their job is to get the ship working for the aliens to live.
After that happened, I looked through what the group has done in terms of design. While looking through i realized there where a lot of monster who had glowing effects on them which was a part of the theme of this world. So, I decided to create a design for a predator who could camouflage the glow. So, I create a flesh monster. The idea the idea that I had in mind for the monster was to give it a very terrifying look and make it look like a threat. Here some concepts:

When getting the references, I primarly got inspired by an SCP creature called The Flesh that Hates which shares some similar properties to my creature. I also looked at anatomy references and some monsters from Outlast alongside some zombie types. I hat many ideas ranging from a cow that has its mouth in the shape of a brain with the back of the rip cage as a face shield, to a snake like creature that has its lungs expand and looking similarly like a cobra. I showed the designs to the group and they really liked the one with the very big eyes. When they said this, they got me very interested in the design as well. So, I got to making the colour to the creature. I also added tiny details of how it might walk and appear. Here is the image.
After that, I took a break from desiging this terrifying creature and instead designed something on the more cutesy side. Here is the image:

For their designs, I just thought of mixing different animals into one. The animals that I used are: armadillo, axolotl, fox, bear cub and a rabbit with a lion hair. When creating these designs I wanted to create something cute and friendly.
Overall I enjoyed the task. The only thing I would redo is the second background I feel like the clouds don’t look natural.
Update
After finishing the blog I realized that I had to do the colour script. Here is my colour script:
