Experimenting with Zbrush functions following Tim Bergholz tutorial.

Beginners Guide to Learning Zbrush

Test Import to Substance Painter

Below is a quick low poly model I made based on one of my assets (quiver) and my test run as shown on how to go from the original FBX file to a baked model ready for substance painter. To create this I just experimented with the various brushes in Zbrush to stretch and deform the model so I can see what it would look like. This was extremely helpful to do a run-through of the exporting process and to see how much (for example stretching) the mesh would affect the final baked model.

As my model wasn’t baking properly in substance painter, I followed the above video using the project all function. My high poly mesh was a lot larger than the low poly one, and following the above tutorial meant I could produce the below model. By doing this example I know that using extreme stretching will distort the mesh and it is better to start off small with sculpting and build up details on the model.
