Chicago

Chicago is a 2002 film set in a 1924 Chicago Theatre. It stars Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Richard Gere. The film follows Roxie and Velma, two death row murderesses who compete for fame and the gaze of a lawyer. The Chicago musical has been running since 1975 non-consecutively and is currently is on the west end.

The Princess and the Frog

The Princess and the Frog is a 2009 Disney film, set between 1912-1926 New Orleans. The film follows Tiana, a young chef who aspires to open her own restaurant. In desperation, she kisses a frog prince to pursue her dream.

Some like it hot is a 1959 film starring Marilyn Monroe, set in 1929 Prohibition-era Chicago.

Marilyn Monroe Costume: Some Like It Hot

This cocktail dress, worn by Monroe in the film, reaches over $450k in an auction in 2016. Costume designer Orry-Kelly won the 1959 Oscar for his work on this film. The dress is composed of a black souffle and nude silk jersey embellished with columns of jet-like beads and sequins, scattered beaded butterfly appliques, and beaded fringes.

The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is a 2013 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, set in 1920s New York. The movie is set on a 1925 novel of the same name by F.Scott Fitzgerald. The story is a retelling of members of Nick, a neighbour of millionaire Jay Gatsby.
