CV Research

  • Simple use of colours and designed using the Fibonacci sequence
  • Hard to navigate
  • When work is displayed the work looks good but would have preferred more screenshots

  • Not a fan of the single scroll website
  • found the text difficult to read against the bright background
  • would have preferred a separate section for his own work rather than hyperlinks in the middle of blocks of text

  • fun design, could see a lot of effort went into creating the cv
  • although the concept and design is atheistically pleasing, imagery can distract from the main information
  • liked the separate section and launching of work

Original Concept

Reflection

So upon reflection of my cv and cover letter, they are over designed. I tried to create a full visual CV along the theme of jobs I would be applying for, but it has ended up looking messy and needs to be simplified.

Reflection

Looking at the change between my original cover letter and cv and my new improved one, I definitely think it is more professionally layout out and easier to read. I have taken away all the distractive imagery and let the actual information speak for itself. By using only 3 colours, black white and purple, the cv stands out and titles are highlighted, without being overdesigned and messy looking. I have added the process of me creating models into the description on my cover letter, showing employees that I am familiar with the process of how to do the job. The main difficulty I had creating the CV in general was that I found it difficult to talk about myself and list my skills, so to improve the CV I should consult with employers on more of what they are looking for to see if I can tailor my CV to their needs more specifically. Because of this, the CV currently looks quite blank and has a lot of white space.
