This is a 500-word Reflection based on my personal experiences as a Student at Ulster and a student of the Animation Studio module. This is a reflection-based essay focusing on my personal academic, professional and personal growth.
Throughout this module, I have received the most useful information as I was able to comprehend what was given effectively on different subjects involving animation such as Character Development, Story Concepts, Layout, Colour, Form and shape, Composition and perspective, and Tone and Value. These were useful as they taught me how to create a character, and a story, lay out characters in different perspectives, different artistic colours, shading, highlight lighting layouts, and form and shape an object or being. My overall artwork worked best for me due to constant practice of sketching, and artsy tasks including me having to draw whilst learning different key areas of art and design.
The only thing that I thought didn’t work well for me was the story narration concept as it never truly stood out to me nor had a true likeness to it as It sounded boring and it didn’t fit my personality. Made it hard for me to like the things I was doing as I had to help arrange a story with my teammates which made me feel forced into liking their concept designs and storytelling methods.
The things I learned about creative teamwork were that it builds a bond with each person, relationships, and opportunities that lead to the development of innovative ideas. The things that strengthen team creativity are having stronger cohesion, passion, morale and enthusiasm. Especially strengthening one’s acceptance, trust and patience.
If I did this module again I would make sure the information that was presented was memorised as I found myself making silly mistakes multiple times with assignments as I would accidentally do something wrongly or do the complete opposite. Making me have to redo the assignment again. Other than that, to improve my animation practice, I would make sure to keep drawing every day to improve my artistic skills and drawing skills, this has helped me as I have used my time wisely by improving my overall development in animation. Making me better at creating big structures, advanced characters and concept designs.
I will also make sure to improve my literacy skills by writing every single time I have class by documenting each task and assignment. Telling the reader what I have done, and what I have learned and improved on. I would do fewer long paragraphs as I have heard that the paragraphs I did in my blogs had been too long therefore I would make my sentences shorter.
I would like to change the way I write paragraphs by including references such as images or written examples from Google e.g. Wikipedia. This is important as the lecturer seeks me as a student to include more references and keep paragraphs simple as it helps them to read and input their feedback more quickly.
