Self Reflection
Today, however, we are introduced to our new topic which focuses on ‘Composition and Perspective’. In this topic, we learned about Compositions, Perspective, Gold Ratios, the Rule of Thirds, Symmetry, and Geometry in Composition and Cinematography Terminology such as different types of Camera Angles and Shots.
What I have learned is that Composition is the artistically arranged parts of an image and that Perspective is an ‘art technique for creating an illusion of three dimensions’ with the use of depth and space or on a two-dimensional flat surface.
Throughout the topic, we had to do short 10-minute exercises for which we had to draw key positions of geometry to dissect compositions for example, we had to draw using the Rule of Thirds technique. The Rule of Thirds guides your subject in the left or right third of an image, leaving the other two-thirds more open.
After, we had to do another 10-minute exercise for which we had to do examples of different types of perspectives such as one-point, two-point, three, forced, arial and scale-perspective. For this, I had to draw a box, sketch out the grid and fill in the details. Lastly, we had to do a 15-minute Practice by taking pictures of lines of symmetry and screenshots of different animations by drawing out the keyframes and their geometry.
These are works of what I’ve done. I was pleased with the practice sketches but I would like to improve this technique in future work scenarios.
