Today I attended a Careers Talk in the Belfast Careers Café which was hosted by Ulster University Employability and Careers. I got an email for it recently and thought I would sign up as sounded interesting and there was free coffee involved.
The topic of the Talk was on making Frist Impressions. There was 3 guess speakers who spoke about their start up businesses and experiences. I thought is was very inspiring. It shows that if you have an idea for a business you can make it into a living with commitment, hardworking and making a good first impression.
The main points I took away from the talk was:
- Have an Instagram page which showcase your work
- Be Confident and Happy with what your are doing
- Try gain Momentum
- Don’t worry about receiving No’s
- Build Contact
- Get your name out there
- Communicate with people
- Consider your basic needs
- Show your personality
- Don’t let being an Introvert put you off
- Get your ideas out there
- Signup to handshake for placement opportunities
I thought the talk was very informative and I will take away a few pointers from the talk. Also I very much enjoyed the free coffee.
