#IXD101- Group Project: 100 Iterations

Last Monday our class was split into groups where we had to gather 100 photos focusing on one of the three options. We decided to focus on line; more specifically, buildings.

We all loved the architecture of the buildings and found how the lines made each building so unique. We then had to choose 9 of our favourite photos to focus on.

These are the photos I chose which are based around buildings and interior of buildings as I found the shapes of these the most interesting.

I then used these photos from Pinterest as my inspiration to take some first hand photos of lines around the interior of my house that I found very interesting to study.

I found it very interesting to look at the fine lines found in objects within the house so I decided to base my narrative on this. all the inspiration photos I looked at on Pinterest were very abstract however when you dismantled them, they were very simple photographs which included very minimal objects. I decided to recreate this using very common objects around the house such as forks and clocks. this was very fun to do as it allowed me to realise and appreciate the compositions that can be created just using one or two objects, transforming them from very common utensils to something very abstract to view.

lighting also played a massive part in my 9 Iteration composition as I loved how the shadows added such complexity to the very simple objects. the shadows of the blinds that is reflected onto the walls create a very dense piece which I find very hypnotising to look at, however when you dissect the image it is simply just the lighting on a wall. similarly, the shadows from the two forks linked together makes the image a lot more chaotic than it would be without the shadowing which I love because it makes it hard to see where one fork ends and the other begins.
