IXD104 Week 8: Lecture Reflection

This weeks lecture was all about designing infographics.

We started with just a quick reminder of the deliverables. Then we looked at the idea that one image says 1,000 words and how “infographics fill thee gap between words and pictures” said by the father of infographics: Edward Tufte.

we then looked at the rise of infographics and some examples of their use as potent forms of communication.

 

We then looked at how infographics should tell a story and how utility, soundness and illustration make a good infographic. Although you must take care that the illustration doesn’t take away from the data which is the most important part.

After that we looked at the steps to an infographic level of amazing which are as follows:

I overall I really appreciated this week’s lecture. I learned a lot about how to approach  designing an infographic and so now I’m feeling a lot more confident about creating my own.
