During this weeks lecture we were given an hour to write our first names using letterforms made only geometric shapes ie. circles, squares, triangles.
Here is what I did:
I was quite pleased with what I came up with. I wanted it to come off as more fun and. playful so I took a literal approach to the brief by having the letter shapes start out as big shapes. Then I put little shapes where I felt they were necessary in making the letter identifiable.
I got to look at some of everyone else’s designs on padlet after time was up. I t was really cool and interesting to see the different approaches everyone took to the brief. Some were quite traditional and others were a bit more abstract and outside the box.
A lot of people made theirs digitally so I think I might do the same whenever I get time. Overall I think that this was a fun exercise and it got me to start considering letters as shapes.
